The Top 3 SOG Throwing Knives You Must Get

SOG Specialty Knives doesn’t have a large range of throwing knives. The number of throwing knives they offer is limited but we like them a lot. Inspired by the elite military group Studies and Observation Group which designed equipment in the Vietnam War, SOG was found by Spencer Frazer in 1986.

Each SOG product is known for their unique style and performance. These products are designed by Spencer Frazer and they have earned reputation among military personnel as well as in the industry.

What we really like about SOG throwing knives is that some of these products are mainly produced for the military personnel. You can be guaranteed that these knives are no toys. SOG also manufactures folding knives and multi-tools with the patented SOG Assisted Technology, the Arc-Lock and Compound Leverage.

Unlike some other manufacturers where they make all their products in China, SOG has product lines around the world. Most of the higher priced blades and folders are made in Japan while the lower end products are made in Taiwan or China. SOG also manufactures their knives and tools in the USA.

With 9.5-inch overall length, 0.14-inch blade thickness and 5.40-ounce weight, this full tang structured knife is great for long range throw. The 2.8-inch blade is made of 3Cr13 steel even though some websites claim that it is made of 9Cr18MoV steel. The 3Cr13 steel is not the best quality metal but its soft nature makes it perfect for a throwing knife. The double-edged fixed blade finished with a satin style.

The handle is made of the same type of steel as the blade. The paracord that wraps around the handle feels comfortable and high quality. We like the camouflaged pattern on the cord, it gives the knife a military feel and it looks very good.

These Sog throwing knives also comes with a ballistic nylon sheath. It contains three slots where you can put all three knives into the sheath and secure them with the Velcro strap.

The best thing about the SOG Fling is that it comes with a limited lifetime warranty. You can find the term and condition of the warranty on its product page and it is guaranteed against defects in workmanship and materials for the life. The only downside is that this knife only ships within U.S

SOG Fusion F04T Throwing Knives Review

[easyazon_image align=”right” height=”500″ identifier=”B005HUWGY6″ locale=”US” src=”https://deadbullseye.com//sites/deadbullseye.com/files/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/41h5mwmbZfL.jpg” tag=”deadbullseye-20″ width=”300″]The F04TN-CP is a good throwing knife for casual backyard throwers who throw for fun. Even if you are not a careful thrower, you don’t need to worry too much about wear and tear. Some beginners who used this knife agree that it can take some abuse no matter what target you’re throwing at. These knives are tough and even if you hit rocks, they will still stay a good shape. Of course there might be dents and chips if the knives hit the land too hard, but you can fix them easily by grinding it out.

The F04TN-CP is a practical, balanced and fun throwing knife. The overall length is 10-inch with 0.14-inch blade thickness and 5.3-ounce weight. Again this is great for long distant thrower. The blade is made of 420stainless steel which is a common metal for most of the throwing knives in the market. The blade has a hard-cased black-oxide finish which is extremely scratch resistant.

These knives are very well balanced and overall they feel very solid. The only weak point is the handle. First, the crafting in the handle can catch your finger while throwing. The good thing is that you can wrap some cord around the handle to cover up the holes. Second, some users believe that the letter crafting has weakened the structure of the knife. The handle is quite thin around the letter “G” which causes the knife to break at that point over time.

Fortunately the F04TN-CP doesn’t cost too much. Each set comes with 3 knives in a set with a nylon sheath. Overall it is a good set for casual throwers but you might want to spend a bit more for better quality one if you are a serious thrower.

It’s actually a spear head although you can use it as a knife with the handle on. In fact, you can use it as a throwing knife and it isn’t bad at all. The overall length of this knife is a little over 10″ and weighs in at 10 ounces. The weight-length ratio is pretty good for a throwing knife. The 0.13” thick blade is made of 420stainless steel with a black oxide finish. This blade is meant to be thrown as a spear so it works well too as a throwing knife. Most of the users say the blade is pretty strong and they don’t have any problems with chipping or breaking the blade. The handle is sleek and smooth and it feels comfortable but some people might find it awkward to throw. The handle is tough enough to take up some abuse as it is made of impact resistant glass-reinforced nylon.

If you want to use it as a spear, simply unscrew the handle and attach it with a stick. You can screw it on any standard 60-inch broom or mop and it can be tighten with the side screw. It is truly a weapon for hunting. The spear is formidable and it can be thrown for a much longer distant than a throwing knife. The SOG Spirit also comes with a black nylon sheath and a limited lifetime warranty.

Overall, we are impressed with this SOG Spirit Knife. It is an interesting multipurpose gear and is definitely not the usual weapon you see everyday.
